Frequently Asked Questions

Which family calendars accept voice, photo, and email input in 2026?
Nori and Skylight Plus (Sidekick) are the only two products in this list that do all three. Cozyla (with "Hey Cozy") does voice and photo but not email. Hearth Display does photo only. The rest accept none.
What's the total first-year cost for each option?
Free: Nori core · Cozi Free (30-day limit) · Mango Free (no family features) · DAKboard Free.  ·  Under $100: Cozi Gold $39 · Nori Premium $49.99 · Mango Pro $59.99 · DAKboard Plus $96.  ·  Hardware: Echo Show 15 $255–$300 · Cozyla 15.6" $349.99 · Skylight + Plus $378.99 · Hearth (annual) $715.50 · Cozyla 24" $699.99 · Cozyla 32" $899.99.
Which products don't require any subscription?
Cozyla (any size), Echo Show 15, and DAKboard Free work with zero recurring cost. Cozi Free technically requires no subscription but is crippled by a 30-day calendar window since May 2024. Mango Free lacks all family-organizer features — Pro at $5.99/mo is what families actually need.
Do all of these sync Google, Apple, and Outlook bidirectionally?
No — only Nori, Hearth Display, Cozyla, and Cozi sync all three bidirectionally. Skylight Plus only does Google two-way — Apple and Outlook are read-only (a major frustration for mixed-platform families). Mango, DAKboard, and Echo Show are mostly display-only — they read events but can't push new ones back to your providers reliably.
Why is Cozi marked as "Free*" with an asterisk?
Since May 2024, Cozi's free tier shows only 30 days of calendar events — you can't see or add anything beyond a month out without upgrading to Gold ($39/yr). Existing users called this a "bait and switch" — Cozi's Trustpilot rating fell to 2.1 stars. If you're new to family calendars, Nori's free tier or Cozi Gold are both better starting points than the new Cozi Free.
How often is this comparison updated?
Quarterly at minimum. Any pricing or feature changes flagged by users are reflected within a week. Last verified May 2026 — see Skylight Alternatives for the most-recent deep dive.
